Modified Side Plank

One knee is bent and pressed into the earth to support the pose.

Modifications

  • With one foot on the floor - bend the upper leg and place the sole of the foot in front of the knee of the lower leg. Push firmly downward.

  • With one of the feet forward - one foot rests in front of the other on the floor.

Variations

  • With one leg lifted - extend the upper leg into the air perpendicular to the floor and hold the leg, ankle, foot, or toes with the upper hand.

  • Forearm on the earth - maintain the forearm and hand of the supporting arm on the earth.

Use Caution If

  • You have uncontrolled high blood pressure, hernia, or glaucoma.

  • You have shoulder, elbow, wrist, or neck issues.
