Hello and Welcome!
My name is Sandra Paice and I am SPaice Yoga.
I was born in Nebraska, raised in Texas, lived most of my adult life in Nebraska (after a brief stint in Hawaii) and have since retired from the 9-5 life in Texas again. I am the wife of a retired US Army 1SG, mama to two amazing sons and their wives, and Gemma to two wonderful grandchildren.
My yoga journey began in 1990 after in the birth of my first son. I went to a class on Fort Carson, thinking it was going to be aerobics. It was yoga instead and I fell in love! I loved how I felt afterwards and how freeing it was. I began to take classes whenever I was able, using videos if necessary, though I preferred the live classes and always felt like they did so much more!
As it so often does, life got in the way. Being a single parent during deployments, raising active boys with busy schedules, and working full time — for several years my yoga classes fell by the wayside. I did my best to practice at home, but it wasn’t until 2007 that I was really able to make going to classes a priority again.
In 2016, after participating in a class with a dear friend, she brought me up to meet the teacher. Having noticed me helping my friend with pose modifications, the teacher asked if I had ever considered becoming a yoga instructor myself. I hadn’t! I always thought of myself as a participant, never as one prompting participation.
After much prayer and deliberation, in 2018 I started the next phase of my yoga journey — becoming a registered yoga teacher (RYT).
I graduated from my RYT-200 classes in spring 2019 — one of my graduation requirements was to teach six yoga classes. I ended up teaching eighteen! During our group discussions, we were asked what our “niche” would be. I knew I was called to focus my skills and energy on the veteran and first-responder communities.
At the recommendation of one of our guest instructors, I discovered Veteran’s Yoga Project. One year later, at the height of COVID, I was enrolled in their first training held virtually. Later that year, we retired from our 9-5s and I moved home to Texas. Shortly after that, I set out to complete my RYT-500 and moved on to train in Yoga Nidra with the iRest Institute.
By the grace of God and by His provision, I have been blessed to work with Veteran’s Yoga Project and the Operation Red Wings Foundation.
In addition, I teach regular yoga classes at Central Texas College.
